Description
Toydaria is a mucky sphere in Hutt Space notable for its stagnant lakes, clouds of bugs, and mats of algae. That sounds perfectly hellish for humans and many other humanoids, but to native Toydarians it's paradise, and other worlds are bland, arid, and devoid of interesting smells. The pudgy Toydarians evolved to eat almost everything in their muck lakes, from fish to particularly succulent algae, and soon developed agriculture to feed their ever-expanding numbers. Toydarian monsoons and fungal diseases can often kill off a growing season's stock of nutrients, however, forcing Toydarians into struggles between clans and confederacies.
The Toydarians have been vassals of the Hutts for millennia, and often trade foodstuffs with other Hutt worlds. The Hutts find Toydaria's stinging insects oppressive, but occasionally will visit Toydarian-run spas for therapeutic dips in algae and muck, or to hunt the dangerous predators known as grabworms. Hutt caravels are among the handful of craft allowed in Toydarian skies; Toydarians would rather fly than walk, and have banned speeders for safety's sake. Offworlders generally must make do with light-lift rail connections among Toydaria's cities.
Wily traders and born hagglers, Toydarians are common sights as Hutt servants or associates. Some have left Hutt Space to seek their fortunes in the larger galaxy. After being largely untouched by the ebb and flow of power in the larger galaxy, Toydaria was invaded by the Yuuzhan Vong as they swept across Hutt Space, and put up a surprisingly fierce resistance.
