Star Wars Galaxies RPG Development Roadmap

This roadmap outlines the planned development milestones and features for Star Wars Galaxies RPG from the alpha phase through to the beta release and beyond. The proposals for each major release are more extensive than shown below and will be expanded as I add new features.

Milestone 1: Core Enhancements (Version 0.5 Alpha)

  • Timeline: Q3 2024
  • Goals:
 * Improve existing basic game mechanics including movement, combat, and interaction systems.
 * Refine character creation and customization options.
 * Optimize game world and environments.
 * Release Tatooine, Corellia, and Naboo as starting planets.
 * Add Starting Quest to Tatooine for testing

Milestone 2: Expanded Content (Version 0.6 Alpha)

  • Timeline: TBA YYYY
  • Goals:
 * Add more character classes and abilities.
 * Develop additional quests for the existing quest system.
 * Introduce new schematics for the crafting system.

Milestone 3: Location and Zones Development (Version 0.7 Alpha)

  • Timeline: TBA YYYY
  • Goals:
 * Finalize Tatooine (90% done).
 * Continue development of Coruscant, Naboo, Corellia, Talus, Rori, Dantooine, Lok, Yavin 4, the forest moon of Endor, and Dathomir.
 * Design and implement cities and zones within these planets.

Milestone 4: Advanced Systems and Content (Version 0.8 Alpha)

  • Timeline: TBA YYYY
  • Goals:
 * Enhance advanced combat mechanics and refine PvP built into PvE.
 * Expand the housing system with additional customization options.
 * Implement new environmental effects and sound design.

Beta Phase

Milestone 1: Final Content Additions (Version 0.9 Alpha)

  • Timeline: TBA YYYY
  • Goals:
 * Add final quest lines and storyline content.
 * Introduce talent trees and advanced character progression.
 * Finalize all remaining content for a seamless gameplay experience.

Milestone 2: Polish and Optimization (Version 1.0 Alpha)

  • Timeline: TBA YYYY
  • Goals:
 * Focus on game stability, performance improvements, and bug fixing.
 * Finalize UI and user experience enhancements.
 * Implement user feedback features and comprehensive testing.

Post-Beta Phase

Milestone 1: Full Game Release

  • Goals:
 * Launch the game to the public.
 * Ensure a smooth and stable game experience.
 * Monitor player feedback and address issues promptly.

Milestone 2: Expansion and Updates

 * Plan and release the first major content expansion: Rage of the Wookiees.
 * Introduce the Wookiee home planet Kashyyyk with new quests, zones, and content.
 * Continue to introduce new features, regions, quests, and character options.
 * Continuously improve game balance and player experience based on feedback.
