Description

Saleucami has a surface covered with scars—its circular seas and crested calderas all attest to a history of violent asteroid impact. Fittingly, Saleucami was the site of one of the most punishing battles of the Clone Wars.

Saleucami sits along the Talcene Transit, a supply line for starships shipping cargo from the Perlemian Trade Route to the Kuthic Worlds. It is a young world, with no intelligent species of its own, but it has attracted colonization since at least 6100 BBY. Factors that have lured offworlders include a pleasant climate (though temperatures soar during Saleucami’s closest approach to its sun) and active geothermal activity.

The largest, freshest craters often encircle hot springs or lava veins, and it was there that the first colonists built their cities. Wroonian settlers gave Saleucami its early character, and the world’s name means "oasis" in the Wroonian tongue.

In time, Saleucami earned note for its medicinal exports, with mineral water and root segments from the bulbous bubse tree fetching high prices from the aestheticians of the Zealots of Psusan, who dominated three colonies along the Talcene Transit. But industrialization took precedence when sector corporations moved in to exploit Saleucami’s geothermal energy, and by 35 BBY the Techno Union had claimed the planet for transformation into one of its new workworlds.

The Clone Wars turned Saleucami into a battlefield. At one point during the Clone Wars, General Grievous was forced down on Saleucami, and tracked across the planet by Obi-Wan Kenobi and a squad of clone troopers. The two dueled to a draw; later, during the Siege of Saleucami, Republic troops made a slow advance against entrenched Techno Union droid and weapon storehouses. The Separatists fought hard to protect their prize, an underground cloning chamber producing Nikto warriors of the fierce Morgukai sect. After five months of ground skirmishes, Republic forces destroyed the complex, with Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis numbering among the casualties. During mopping-up efforts, two clone troopers on speeder bike patrol received Order 66 and killed their commander, Jedi Master Stass Allie.
