Description

For centuries the Rodians split their homeworld between raw wilderness and churning industry. The invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong smashed that uneasy balance, creating a transformed world.

Rodia’s continents are bisected with jungle foliage right up to the waterline. The bulbous-eyed Rodians evolved in this hothouse environment, prizing the art of the hunt and the satisfaction of the kill. The violence that ensured their survival against predators like the bog-dwelling veermoks was the very definition of beauty. Morbid Rodian dramas became a popular export, as did the services of Rodian trackers.

The need to manufacture items of killing—from training droids to blaster rifles—necessitated factories and mines. From the megalopolis of Equator City, industrialization ate away at the jungle in an ever-expanding band of disaster and smoke.

Long a Republic member, Rodia experienced an internal coup in 17 BBY when the Red of the Chattza clan conquered his rivals. With Navik’s home city of Iskaayuma the new seat of government, Rodia became a free trading port and an emerging economic powerhouse near the Corellian Run. A Loyalist world during the Clone Wars, Rodia was caught between the front lines and scarred by famine, breeding resentment of a Republic that seemed unable or unwilling to come to its aid. Its citizens escaped Imperial enslavement due to the Empire’s unspoken need for bounty hunters.

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the invaders blitzed the Dolduar sector, conquering Druckenwell and Falleen, and invaded Rodia to cut off the Rimward leg of the Corellian Run. The Yuuzhan Vong shaper caste then turned its attention to Rodia’s natives, sculpting their genetic stock to create a new race of slave soldiers. The resulting horrors, Vagh Rodiek, scuttled into sight of their makers and hid among its herders. The invaders terraformed Rodia itself, crumbling the urban blocks of Equator City to seed the forests with leathery, fighter-sized blooms. Rodia continued to attract Yuuzhan Vong refugees long after the war, and is now home to one of the largest such populations.
